Zelenskyy Warns of Severe Consequences If Russia Sanctions Are Lifted.
Ukrainian President's Remarks on Sanctions Against Russia
According to UATV: Speaking alongside French President Emmanuel Macron at a press conference on March 13, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy raised alarms over the potential fallout of removing sanctions on Russia. He argued that such a move would strengthen Moscow's hand, as it currently funnels revenue from energy exports into funding its military operations.
“Russia spends this money on drones that then strike Ukrainians,” Zelenskyy stated.
The president stressed that lifting sanctions could escalate the threat to Ukraine even further. He also underscored the need to maintain these punitive measures, asserting that “the sanctions against Russia represent a strategy of the entire civilized world, designed to inflict financial pain on Moscow.”
Ukraine's Strategic Stance
Zelenskyy further revealed that Ukraine has already deployed expert teams to three countries and stands ready to offer assistance in this regard. These comments reflect Kyiv's broader strategic approach to safeguarding its security and countering the aggression it faces from Russia.
Zelenskyy's statements highlight the ongoing relevance of sanctions and international support for Ukraine amid continued Russian aggression. Keeping sanctions in place is a critical tool for limiting Moscow's financial resources, which in turn can affect its military capabilities. As global policymakers search for effective solutions to ensure regional stability, these issues are becoming increasingly pressing on the world stage.
