Ukrainian President’s Visit to NATO Headquarters
According to Espreso.tv: Volodymyr Zelenskyy has landed in Brussels for high-level meetings with NATO and Belgian officials, as well as to take part in the Ukraine Defense Contact Group session under the Ramstein format. During his visit, the Ukrainian president is scheduled to hold talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever. Additionally, Zelenskyy will have an audience with King Philippe of Belgium.
Strategic Priorities and Scheduled Events
As part of this trip, another Ramstein-format meeting of the contact group is set to take place on June 18 at NATO’s headquarters. Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has outlined the main priorities, which include:
- bolstering air defense capabilities;
- securing long-range artillery ammunition;
- expanding domestic drone production.
Zelenskyy stated: 'These are crucial days for strengthening our defense: I will meet with the defense ministers of the United Kingdom and Germany, attend the Ramstein session, and participate in the European Council meeting.'
This visit underscores the critical role of international backing for Ukraine amid the ongoing war. The discussions with senior NATO and European Union figures aim to enhance Ukraine’s defensive capacity, which remains vital for regional security. Engaging in the Ramstein contact group meeting will allow Ukraine to address military aid specifics and priorities that could significantly shape the conflict’s trajectory.
He also expressed gratitude to all those supporting Ukraine, emphasizing: 'Europe must be strong and united. That will largely determine how this war ends.'
