Zelenskyy Vows Ukraine Will Never Withdraw Its Forces from the Donbas.
Zelenskyy's Stance on the Donbas
According to Novyny.live: During a press briefing in Munich, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared that Ukraine will never pull its troops out of the Donbas region. He asserted that Russia's objective is to seize the entire area, making a withdrawal unthinkable.
"Putin wants the whole of Donbas so he can 'sell' this victory to the Russian people," Zelenskyy stated. "We will never withdraw our forces."
Zelenskyy revealed that Ukrainian forces have already thwarted Russian plans to capture the Donetsk region by 2025. He also provided figures underscoring the conflict's intensity: approximately 200,000 Ukrainians currently reside in the Donbas, and Russian military casualties there have reached 30,000 since the start of the year. The Donbas has been a central battleground since 2014, with recent fighting marking a severe escalation of the long-standing conflict.
These statements highlight the Ukrainian leadership's deep concern for the region's security and stability. Zelenskyy's firm position reflects Ukraine's determination to maintain control over its territory amid rising tensions with Russia. This stance is likely to have significant implications for strategic planning and international relations in Eastern Europe. Furthermore, the reported scale of Russian losses points to the conflict's severity and potential shifts in the military tactics employed by both sides.
