Zelensky on Russian Drones in NATO Airspace: What Happened.
According to inkorr.com: The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, shared his thoughts on the situation with Russian drones that crossed the airspace of Romania and Poland. He emphasized that both countries quickly responded to this threat with military actions.
Actions of Romania and Poland
“Today, Romania scrambled its combat aviation due to a Russian drone in its airspace. According to current data, the drone penetrated Romanian territory by about 10 kilometers and remained in NATO airspace for about 50 minutes. Poland also took military action today in response to the threat of Russian strike drones,” he noted.
Threat from Russia
Zelensky drew attention to the activity of Russian drones over the territory of Ukraine, particularly in the northern regions and on the border with Belarus. The President stressed that such an open display of aggression from Russia requires an adequate response from the international community.
“The Russian military knows exactly where their drones are aimed and how long they can stay in the air. The routes are always calculated. This cannot be a coincidence or a mistake by lower-level commanders. This is an obvious escalation of war by Russia, and this is how they operate. First, small steps, then large losses,” Zelensky emphasized.
The Necessity of Response
The President of Ukraine noted that it is important to take measures in response to Russian aggression, which manifests not only at the borders with neighboring countries but also on Ukrainian territory.
Zelensky's statements underline the seriousness of the situation and the necessity of joint actions to ensure security in the region. The reaction of Romania and Poland may become an important foundation for further international cooperation in countering threats from Russia. The situation remains tense, and the actions of the governments of neighboring countries will show how they plan to respond to similar incidents in the future.
