Zelensky: Russia finances the war through the sale of gas and oil.
Statement of the President of Ukraine regarding Russian energy resources
According to inkorr.com: Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, expressed his conviction that Russia uses the income from the sale of energy resources to finance its war. He also noted that a reduction in social support in Russia may cause concern among the Kremlin leadership.
“There are a lot of different funds – I mean money in various formats. The largest budget revenue comes from energy resources: the sale of energy resources, primarily gas and oil,” the president noted.
Zelensky called on European countries to stop importing Russian energy resources and expressed support for the United States on this issue. The president emphasized the importance of seeking alternative energy sources to reduce dependence on the Russian Federation.
“There are risks, we understand, there is other logistics, it may be more expensive, but we need to find a way out and stop purchasing energy resources from those or other countries. Ultimately – from Russia,” Zelensky summarized.
The president of Ukraine emphasized that energy resources are a key source of financing for Russia in the war and called for finding solutions that will help avoid dependence on Russian supplies.
Zelensky's arguments further highlight the relevance of energy security issues in Ukraine and Europe. In the face of Russian aggression, it is important to find effective mechanisms that reduce the economic resources of the aggressor and support stability in the region.
