Zelenskyy Accuses Hungarian PM Orbán of Blocking EU Funds, Arms, and Membership Path.
Ukrainian President's Remarks on Hungarian Dispute
According to TSN.ua: In an interview with Politico, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the ongoing conflict with Hungary, stating that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been blocking support for Ukraine since the war began. Zelenskyy asserted that Orbán has obstructed decisions that would benefit Ukraine.
While acknowledging that Orbán is not an active aggressor who 'does not attack Ukraine with missiles and drones,' Zelenskyy characterized him as an ally of the Kremlin. The Ukrainian president emphasized that Orbán's actions negatively impact the lives of Ukrainians and the security of both Ukraine and Europe.
“This is about the lives of Ukrainians, about the security of Ukraine and Europe,” Zelenskyy stressed.
Political Rift Between Ukraine and Hungary
Zelenskyy further accused Orbán of 'blocking money, weapons, our path to the EU, and spreading Russian narratives.' These statements highlight the severe political disagreements between Ukraine and Hungary in the context of the war and international support efforts. This dispute occurs as Hungary maintains closer economic and political ties with Russia than most other EU and NATO members.
Zelenskyy's comments reflect the heightened tensions in Ukraine-Hungary relations, which could have significant consequences for regional stability and international policy. Hungary's obstruction of financial and military support complicates Ukraine's ongoing fight for its independence and territorial integrity. Such actions also risk undermining European solidarity in supporting nations facing aggression.
