Over 700 drones launched, 90% intercepted: Zelenskyy details massive Russian strike.
Massive Russian Drone Attacks
According to Novyny.live: On April 1, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported a large-scale assault by Russian drones. According to him, air defense forces managed to shoot down approximately 90% of the more than 700 drones launched. Despite this high interception rate, four people were killed in the Zolotonosha district after a Russian drone crashed. Damage to energy infrastructure and residential buildings was also recorded.
Response to Aggression
Zelenskyy emphasized that
“our soldiers have been downing Russian drones virtually around the clock”, highlighting the relentless efforts of Ukrainian forces against the aggressor. He noted that this attack was Russia’s response to Ukraine’s proposal for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays. In the Ternopil region, a fire broke out at an enterprise in the Chortkiv district as a result of the strikes, underscoring the severe consequences for the area.
Regions where impacts were recorded include:
- Volyn Oblast
- Zakarpattia Oblast
- Ternopil Oblast
- Chernivtsi Oblast
- Cherkasy Oblast
- Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
This situation highlights the ongoing tension and threat from Russian forces, as well as the urgent need for continued efforts to protect Ukraine’s skies and population.
These events demonstrate that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to escalate, despite attempts at peace negotiations. The high number of drones launched and the significant civilian casualties underscore the seriousness of Russia’s aggression. In light of this, Ukraine must keep strengthening its air defense systems and take measures to safeguard infrastructure and civilians from future attacks.
