Zelenskyy on Kryvyi Rih Strike: Current Pressure on Russia Falls Short.
Strike on Kryvyi Rih: Tragedy and Response
According to UATV: On June 23, 2023, the city of Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region came under attack, resulting in three fatalities and over twenty injuries. The strike specifically targeted civilian infrastructure, sparking outrage among local residents and drawing condemnation from the international community.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the incident, urging global allies to ramp up their efforts against Russia. He stated that
“each day like this and every Russian strike proves that the pressure on the aggressor for this war is not enough.”Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of the world speaking out, noting that
“there is still not a single real step from Russia toward ending this war.”This attack is the latest in a series of assaults on Ukrainian urban centers since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Current Situation in Ukraine
Ukraine has yet to receive any response from Russia to its diplomatic proposals. This lack of engagement underscores the ongoing nature of the conflict and highlights the urgent need for decisive action from the international community to address the crisis.
The shelling of Kryvyi Rih serves as another stark example of escalating violence in the Ukraine-Russia war, emphasizing how vulnerable civilian sites remain. Russia’s failure to reply to Ukraine’s calls for a diplomatic resolution leaves peace talks in limbo. This tragedy has raised alarm not only within Ukraine but also among global powers, who continue to seek pathways toward de-escalation.
