Zelenskyy Rejects Putin's Demands: Ceding Donbas Will Not End the War.
Zelenskyy's CNN Interview
According to Novyny.live: In an interview with CNN, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that while Ukrainians strive daily to end the war, they cannot accept all of Vladimir Putin's terms. He emphasized that millions of Ukrainians have chosen to defend their homeland, and surrendering the Donbas region would not halt Russian aggression. Zelenskyy asserted that under these circumstances, Ukrainians must continue to protect their homes.
Unacceptable Russian Terms
The President also expressed a profound distrust of Russia.
“People are tired of resilience and are very exhausted. It is very difficult, completely understandable, and painful,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He stressed that simply agreeing to all of Putin's demands to end the conflict is not an option.
“If we give him everything he wants, we will lose everything, just everything: our homes, lives, families, everything,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy added.
Zelenskyy made it clear that Ukraine will not comply with Putin's conditions, as doing so would mean losing everything the Ukrainian people are fighting for. This stance reflects the resilience and determination of Ukrainians in defending their territory and sovereignty. The ongoing conflict, now in its third year, has created a severe humanitarian crisis and reshaped European security.
President Zelenskyy's remarks underscore the difficult situation Ukraine faces and the critical importance of continued international support in countering the aggression. His statements about distrusting Russian proposals and the readiness to fight for the country demonstrate Ukraine's intent to preserve its independence and territorial integrity. In the context of the prolonged war, such positions are likely to influence international policy and the strategies of support from Western allies.
