Iran's Threat to Regional Security: Ukraine's Response to Over 800 Missiles and 1,400 Drones.
President Holds Meeting on Middle East Situation
According to UATV: On March 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convened a meeting focused on the situation in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf. The discussions centered on threats to Ukraine and its partners, as well as opportunities for regional stabilization and the protection of civilian lives. During the meeting, it was noted that Iran has deployed more than 800 missiles and over 1,400 attack drones.
Zelenskyy held consultations with the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, and Bahrain. He emphasized that
“no state in proximity to Iran can consider itself safe”.
The President also highlighted that the Iranian attack drones are the same 'Shahed' models that are used to strike Ukrainian cities, villages, and critical infrastructure. This underscores how regional conflicts are increasingly interconnected, with similar weaponry appearing in different theaters of war.
Hopes for International Support
Zelenskyy stated that
“partners are raising this issue”and expressed hope for the active involvement of the European Union, European nations, and the G7 in neutralizing Iran's terrorist potential. Ukraine is counting on the support of its international partners in this critical matter, as the regional situation directly impacts the security of Ukraine and its allies.
These developments highlight Ukraine's growing concern regarding Middle Eastern security, as Iran continues to advance its military capabilities. Ukraine's participation in discussions with Middle Eastern countries and international partners demonstrates its commitment to promoting regional stability and security. This engagement is part of a broader diplomatic effort to address shared security threats that span continents.
Measures undertaken by the international coalition could significantly influence the reduction of threats emanating from Iran and lead to an improvement in the situation for Ukraine.
