The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, communicated by phone with the President of the United States, Joe Biden. Zelensky reported this on Telegram.

“I talked with Biden. I expressed my condolences over the terrible wildfires in California and the loss of life. I noted the heroism of the Americans who are helping to save lives from the fire and stop the spread of wildfires,” he wrote.

Zelensky thanked Biden for supporting Ukraine, its independence, and the consolidation of the international community.

“Together we have created a global coalition of defenders of freedom and principles of international peace and security,” the president noted.

The details of a new U.S. sanctions package concerning Russian energy, which finances Putin's war, were also discussed.

“It is very important that now America has struck at the shadow tanker fleet of Russia and at companies like ‘Gazpromneft’ and ‘Surgoesneft’ that amass money personally for Putin. He must feel the price of his war, losing from his own pockets. I am grateful to America, to both parties, to both chambers of Congress that support fair pressure on Russia for its unprovoked and criminal aggression,” Zelensky said.

The necessity of strengthening the Ukrainian defense shield and protection against Russian terror was also discussed.

“Patriots” in the hands of Ukrainians have proven their effectiveness; we must increase this strength. We appreciate that President Biden said: the preservation and protection of Ukraine's independence is critical for all of Europe and the democratic world. We will definitely stand firm and achieve sustainable peace for our people and country,” the president summarized.
