Zelensky and Merz coordinate positions ahead of negotiations with Trump.

According to ТСН: Ukraine is ramping up efforts on the diplomatic front ahead of important international events. President Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during which the main topic was the coordination of actions of European partners and preparations for negotiations in the USA.

Zelensky emphasized the importance of unity among European leaders in the current geopolitical situation, noting that Kyiv and Berlin must act together to defend shared values.

Contacts with the US administration

During the conversation, the main focus was on future contacts with the US administration. The President of Ukraine stated:

«We discussed the preparation for a meeting with President Trump right now with Friedrich. I informed about our work with American representatives - we all recall the Berlin format of meetings and the productivity that was achieved back then. This is how we continue to work»

The leaders agreed on joint actions of Ukraine and Germany while coordinating their steps with other European partners. The head of state emphasized that the goal of such coordination is not only political support but also ensuring global security on the continent.

The importance of unity in Europe

Zelensky noted:

«We coordinate our positions, and all of us in Europe must be on the same side in defending our European way of life, the independence of our states, and peace in Europe. There must be peace»

Separately, the president expressed gratitude to Germany for the substantial military and humanitarian assistance, particularly for the air defense systems that play an important role in protecting Ukrainian airspace. He stated:

«Thanks to what we do together with Germany, thousands and thousands of lives in Ukraine have already been saved from Russian strikes, and we are maintaining positions in defense to be strong in diplomacy as well. Friedrich, thank you!»

Let us remind that Ukraine and NATO are planning a series of negotiations in the USA to align common positions. Zelensky emphasized that these consultations are critically important for the stability of Ukraine and the entire Europe. The preparation of joint documents and coordination with partners is taking place as quickly as possible, discussing the results of recent negotiations with Donald Trump's team.
