Trump Declines Drone Aid Offer; Zelensky Responds with Strategic Shift.
Zelensky’s Reaction to Trump’s Shahed Drone Refusal
According to Novyny.live: On Friday, March 13, Volodymyr Zelensky addressed Donald Trump’s decision to reject U.S. assistance for Ukraine’s defense against Shahed drones. The Ukrainian leader confirmed that Kyiv has already initiated discussions with international partners to counter the Iranian-made unmanned aerial vehicles. He also expressed gratitude to Trump for enabling Ukraine to purchase weapons through the PURL initiative.
Trump, for his part, stated that the United States does not require external help in drone defense. In light of this, Kyiv has launched consultations with allies across Europe, the United States, and nations bordering Iran. Notably, Washington has asked Ukraine to assist in combating Iranian Shahed drones.
New Agreement and Collaborative Efforts
Meanwhile, Ukraine has proposed a Drone Deal to the United States, offering to share its drone technology. To address the threat from Iranian drones, Ukraine has dispatched three teams of specialists to the Middle East.
Zelensky emphasized: 'The key is that we know what we are doing.'
This situation underscores the critical role of international cooperation amid modern security challenges, particularly the threat posed by Iranian drones. Trump’s refusal of support may compel Ukraine to explore alternative avenues to bolster its defenses and intensify collaboration with other partner nations, potentially reshaping the regional power dynamics.
Zelensky also remarked: 'Rhetoric is just rhetoric.'
