An Ultimatum for Lukashenko

According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued an ultimatum to Alexander Lukashenko, demanding the removal of relay stations that help Russia coordinate strikes on Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader gave Belarus’s president seven days to comply. Zelenskyy stated that

“the relay station issue is a long-running problem that has resulted in casualties—exclusively on Ukraine’s side.”
Ukraine is particularly alarmed by a 20% rise in Russian drone activity launched from Belarusian territory since the start of 2026.

In response to Kyiv’s demands, Lukashenko admitted that his military is not prepared for war. This admission reflects broader challenges in Belarus, where the mobilization reserve has been expanded to 289,000 personnel, and Lukashenko has quintupled the defense budget over the past four years. Additionally, Belarus operates two oil refineries that process Russian crude to supply the Russian army.

Zelenskyy also emphasized that

“step number one is no technical support,”
underscoring the need to halt Belarusian assistance to Russia. Security expert Yuriy Hubarevych added that Lukashenko must be held accountable for actions that threaten Ukraine.
