Bill 'On the Ukrainian National Pantheon'
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted a legislative proposal to the Verkhovna Rada titled 'On the Ukrainian National Pantheon.' The document highlights several key dates for the country, with 2026 singled out as a particularly significant year. One of the most notable milestones is August 24, 2026, which marks both Ukraine’s Independence Day and the 35th anniversary of the restoration of its independence.
Zelenskyy emphasized that
“the names of all heroes who, across different centuries and eras, fought for Ukraine and inspired the nation will be properly and respectfully inscribed into Ukrainian history”- Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Other important anniversaries to be honored include:
- the anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution
- the founding of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
- the revival of national symbols and the hryvnia currency
This proposed legislation aims not only to commemorate outstanding figures from Ukraine’s past but also to strengthen national identity by officially recognizing pivotal events. The emphasis on 2026, particularly the 35th anniversary of independence, underscores the country’s commitment to properly celebrating its historical journey and ongoing struggle for freedom.
