Zelensky: A total of 3,767 Ukrainians have been returned from Russian captivity.
Zelensky returned almost 4000 Ukrainians from captivity
President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that 3767 Ukrainians were returned from Russian captivity. He noted that they underwent torture, humiliation, and hunger in Russian prisons. Most require long-term treatment and rehabilitation. However, Russia illegally detains thousands more Ukrainians and continues to relocate children against their will.
Zelensky called on everyone who respects human life to do everything possible to free the captives. He hopes for the help of the Vatican and partners in this matter.
The President also reminded that Ukraine managed to return 95 Ukrainians from captivity. Among them are many privates and sergeants, as well as 26 officers. Among the captives are defenders of Mariupol and other regions of Ukraine, as well as Ukrainian human rights defender Maksym Butkevych. All returned are given the necessary assistance.
