Zelensky urged Europe to stop importing energy resources from Russia: what the money is spent on.
According to inkorr.com: The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, urged European countries to stop importing Russian oil and gas, stressing that every euro received by Russia for these energy resources is used for waging war against Ukraine.
In a statement on social media on September 27, the Ukrainian leader noted: 'Europe must stop any imports of Russian oil and gas. All this money is being spent by Russia solely on war. We do not see an increase in social support in Russia, which means all this money is being spent on war.'
Energy sanctions and their consequences
Zelensky noted that the introduction of energy sanctions could reduce funding for the war in Russia, which, in turn, would lead to decreased social support among Russians and, consequently, to instability in the country.
The need for a comprehensive approach
The President emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach to sanctions, which includes stopping the purchase of Russian energy resources, blocking the shadow fleet, and banning trade in various goods with Russia. He stressed that all sectors contributing to Russia's economic development must be subject to sanctions.
Zelensky called on European countries to act together with Ukraine and the US to stop Russia's funding of the war and to force it to change its policies.
This initiative by Zelensky highlights the importance of global solidarity in combating aggression and supports efforts to ensure security in the region. In the context of the ongoing war, economic pressure on Russia through energy sanctions can significantly influence the further development of events and strengthen international support for Ukraine.
