Zelensky imposed sanctions against businessmen associated with 'Energoatom'
According to inkorr.com: The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed decrees imposing sanctions against businessmen Timur Mindich and Oleksandr Tsukerman, who are involved in the corruption case at 'Energoatom'. This information was published on the website of the President's Office.
According to the decrees, both businessmen are citizens of Israel and are subject to all restrictions provided by the sanctions legislation. These restrictions include freezing assets, a ban on capital outflow from Ukraine, as well as a ban on participating in privatization and other transactions.
The sanctions will be in effect for three years, and some restrictions will remain in force indefinitely. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also been instructed to inform other countries about the imposed sanctions and to consider the possibility of introducing similar restrictions.
Details of the Energoatom case
On the morning of November 10, employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted searches at Timur Mindich, one of the owners of the 'Quarter 95' studio, who is considered a close friend of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Searches also took place at the suspended Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko. However, Mindich left Ukraine a few hours before the searches began. The NABU investigation revealed a corruption scheme called 'barrier' in 'Energoatom', where suppliers were forced to pay bribes.
Five individuals have been detained in the case, and some have already been charged. Among the figures in the investigation are Timur Mindich, Ihor Myroniuk, Dmytro Basov, Oleksandr Tsukerman, Ihor Fursenko, and others. Participants in the scheme used code names, and the money was laundered through a special office.
The imposition of sanctions against businessmen Timur Mindich and Oleksandr Tsukerman was a response to the detected corruption schemes in 'Energoatom'. These measures are aimed at punishing those who violate the law and reducing the level of corruption in Ukraine.
