Zelensky listened to Umierov regarding negotiations with the Russian Federation – what to expect.
Ukraine continues dialogue with the Russian side regarding the exchange of prisoners. Kyiv has proposed to hold a new round of negotiations next week. This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an evening address on Saturday, July 19.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine continues to fulfill the agreements from the last meeting with the Russian Federation in Istanbul. The team is currently working on another exchange. NSDC Secretary Umierov proposed the Russian side to meet next week. The negotiating dynamics need to be increased. Everything must be done to achieve a ceasefire. The Russian side must stop hiding from decisions.
The President added that a meeting at the leaders' level is needed to ensure lasting peace.
'Exchange of prisoners. Return of children. Halt to killings. And a meeting at the leaders' level is necessary to genuinely ensure peace – real peace. Ukraine is ready for such a meeting'— said the head of state.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that a third round of negotiations with Russia is possible, but under special conditions. Zelensky also commented on a potential meeting with the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin.
