Zelenskyy Approves 40-Day SBU Operation: What We Know About the Plan to End the War.
New SBU Operation and Responses to Aggression
According to Novyny.live: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has greenlit a new 40-day mission for the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) as the war with Russia continues. This initiative aims to bring the military conflict to a close and involves ramping up SBU activities, which have already shown strong results on the front lines. Zelenskyy framed the operation as a direct response to Russia's prolongation of the war and its strikes on Ukrainian cities.
Acting SBU Head Yevhen Khmaru reported that over the past few months, the agency has achieved its highest performance on the battlefield. Notably, on June 25, 2026, Ukraine's defense forces struck the 'Poltavska' oil depot in Krasnodar Krai, as well as two oil refineries in Ufa. The night of June 24 saw Ukrainian troops also attack the Orenburg gas processing plant and Russia's only helium production facility. These targeted sites are critical to Russia's military-industrial complex, highlighting Ukraine's strategic approach to combat operations.
Why the Defense Forces Must Act
Zelenskyy stressed that such actions by the defense forces are essential to boost the fight against the aggressor and ensure the safety of Ukrainian cities. The SBU will continue its work under the new operation, concentrating on damaging Russia's military infrastructure. This mission is part of Ukraine's broader strategy in response to enemy military actions.
