The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, criticizes the approach to sanctions policy against Russia and proposes concrete steps to strengthen pressure on the aggressor. He believes that Western partners should impose sanctions and provide weapons in advance, not just after the fact of invasion or border violations.
Ukraine should use frozen Russian assets to support domestic production and procure weapons from the USA. Sanctions should also be tightened, and Russia's access to the energy market should be restricted. According to Zelensky, sanctions are an important tool for deterring Russia's aggression and reducing its war funding. Ukraine is ready to cooperate with the USA to achieve a just peace.
