Zelensky made a statement about the ceasefire and negotiations with Russia.
Zelensky's meeting with Putin: a mirror reaction to the fire
The Ukrainian government is preparing for a ceasefire from Russia, scheduled for May 15, and is ready to respond in a mirror manner to any decision from Moscow. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced his trip to Turkey for a personal meeting with Vladimir Putin.
Starting tomorrow, we expect a ceasefire - this proposal is on the table. A complete and unconditional ceasefire - lasting, to provide the necessary basis for diplomacy - could significantly bring peace closer. Ukraine has long been proposing this, partners are suggesting it. We expect a clear response from Russia. Russia will have to end the war anyway. The killings must stop. Ukrainian forces will be ready to respond in kind - to make it fair
Zelensky also emphasized Ukraine's readiness for negotiations with Russia in any format. The main condition for starting any negotiations is a ceasefire, stressed Trump's special representative in Ukraine, Keith Kellogg. The Ukrainian government is awaiting a response from Russia regarding this initiative.
It is worth noting that previously the proposal for direct negotiations between Putin and Zelensky in Turkey was supported by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. U.S. President Donald Trump also expressed a positive attitude towards this initiative.
