Discussions in Kiev: Ukrainian president and Latvian defense minister exchange views

According to UATV: On March 24, a meeting took place in Kiev between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds. The focus was on strengthening Ukrainian air defense, supplying additional missiles, and implementing the PURL and SAFE initiatives.

Latvia's defense plans for 2026

For the year 2026, Latvia plans to invest more than 200 million euros in the enhancement of air defense. Additionally, 50 million euros are earmarked for the development of drones (unmanned aerial vehicles). These measures highlight Latvia's determination to support Ukraine in improving its defense capabilities in the face of current challenges and threats.

The meeting between the Ukrainian president and the Latvian minister underscores the significance of international cooperation in the defense and security sector.
