In 2024, Ukraine lost control of more than 3,600 sq. km of territory. This was reported by 'Militarnyi' citing data from the DeepState project.

The concentration of enormous enemy forces, which sometimes outnumber ours by eight times, as well as occasional changes in the tactics of the occupiers, could not 'go unnoticed,' journalists note. For comparison, throughout 2023, the adversary captured about 540 sq. km, while the Ukrainian Defense Forces liberated approximately 430 sq. km.

The largest territorial losses occurred in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. Meanwhile, the rate of the occupiers' advance increased during the second half of 2024.

'The enemy will continue efforts to complete the capture of the cities of Kurakhove, Toretsk, and Chasiv Yar under full control, advancing towards the administrative border of the Dnipropetrovsk region with the prospect of starting combat operations in the region, increasing control over the territory of Donetsk region in all directions,' analysts predict.

They also separately note the increased efforts aimed at eliminating the bridgeheads of the Defense Forces on the left bank of the Oskil River and expanding their presence on its right bank: 'There is also a high probability of further attempts to land on the right bank of the Dnipro in Kherson or other regions to draw away the already limited reserves of the Defense Forces. The enemy will continue to push our troops out of the Kursk region and increase fire impact on the Ukrainian border.'

Let us remind you, analysts from the UA War Infographics project analyzed the territorial changes that occurred on the battlefield map in 2024. According to their data, during the past year, Russia occupied 2,800 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. Analysts compare this to three areas of the capital of Ukraine.

Incidentally, the head of the 'Come Back Alive' charitable foundation, military and analyst Taras Chmut, stated that Ukraine lost approximately 3,600 km² of territory across all fronts over the year. In November, the pace of Russian advancement peaked at 610 km²/month and 20.3 km²/day.
