Ukraine Rail Disruptions: Buses Replace Trains Between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia on February 21.
Rail Service Adjustments Across Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Due to security concerns, Ukrainian Railways implemented schedule changes on Saturday, February 21. To maintain passenger service, bus routes have been established to connect Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia, replacing train service on that line. These adjustments are part of broader nationwide changes, with regional trains continuing to run to and from Konotop in the Sumy region.
Revised Suburban Train Schedules
Modified schedules are now in effect for suburban routes in the Nizhyn direction. For instance, train #6913 from Nizhyn to Kyiv-Pasazhyrsky departs at 08:23 and arrives at 11:01. Another service, train #6803 from Hrebinka to Kyiv-Volynskyi, leaves at 04:30, reaching its destination at 07:44. Additionally, train #6804 from Kyiv-Pasazhyrsky to Yahotyn departs at 07:08, arriving at 09:33.
In the Kharkiv region, passengers traveling from Lozova to Kramatorsk are also using bus services. Train #101/102 from Barvinkove to Kherson is guaranteed to wait for connecting transfers from Kramatorsk. Regional express trains on the Izium route continue to operate on schedule. It is important to note that the connection between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia is now serviced by bus carriers. Furthermore, train #54/53 between Odesa and Dnipro has increased to a daily service, improving connectivity between these cities.
These rail modifications reflect the ongoing security challenges within Ukraine. The substitution of bus routes for train lines demonstrates the transportation system's adaptation to current realities. For international observers, this highlights the direct impact of regional instability on civilian infrastructure. These changes may affect travel plans for passengers reliant on rail and underscore the necessity for flexibility in the national transport network during this period.
