The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskiy, has ordered the Military Law Enforcement Service to send a commission to the military unit to verify information about the abuse of soldiers from the 211th Pontoon-Bridge Brigade of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the leadership. This was reported by the General Staff.

The commander of this military unit has been removed from carrying out official duties.

The results of the inspection will be reported in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine.

The press service of the General Staff notes that an inspection had already been conducted in September this year regarding certain facts mentioned earlier. As a result, a criminal proceeding was initiated.

The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, has addressed the military command regarding this incident. He immediately sent letters to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Military Law Enforcement Service to conduct an investigation and further respond.

The leadership of the 211th Pontoon-Bridge Brigade of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was involved in the abuse of soldiers, forcing them to hand over money, beating them, and threatening physical violence. One soldier reported that he was tied to a wooden cross and abused.

The abuse was perpetrated by Vladyslav Pastukh, the son of the chief of staff, Valeriy Pastukh, and the godson of the brigade commander, Oleg Poberezhniuk. The story has caused a significant resonance within the brigade, resulting in the transfer of Pastukh Jr. to another military unit. The father also paid compensations to the affected soldiers.

However, no criminal proceedings were initiated, and the prosecutor's office investigated the case regarding the failure to compile administrative protocols concerning military personnel.
