Ukrainian Military Operations in Crimea

According to UATV: Since June 20, 2026, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been carrying out massive strikes against Russian logistics in occupied Crimea. These operations aim to cut off the peninsula and severely disrupt supply routes for Russian troops. The attacks launched on the night of June 21 rank among the most intense of the entire conflict.

During this campaign, Ukrainian forces targeted critical infrastructure, including:

  • gas stations,
  • oil terminals,
  • air defense systems,
  • logistics hubs.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, strikes on railway bridges crossing the North Crimean Canal continued on June 21. This reflects Kyiv’s strategic goal: to destroy or severely hamper the transport corridors used by Russian forces.

As a result of these attacks, all gas stations across Crimea halted fuel sales to civilians on the morning of June 21. This has caused major disruptions for the local population, with the tourist season in Sevastopol canceled until further notice. Many towns in southwestern, central, and southern Crimea have lost electricity. In occupied Crimea, authorities have also begun restricting food sales, which could further destabilize the situation.

Reactions and Consequences

'Targets were hit on both sides of the Kerch Bridge: the maritime logistics used for oil transport in the Krasnodar region and the oil depot in temporarily occupied Kerch.' — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Eskender Bariyev described the situation in Crimea as a 'natural cauldron,' emphasizing that once logistics are fully cut off, Russian forces on the peninsula become trapped. Refat Chubarov also noted that 'fuel shortages in occupied Crimea will worsen, triggering a collapse in other sectors—especially in the supply of food and essential goods.'

These comments underscore the growing humanitarian crisis that could result from the ongoing attacks and supply restrictions.

In short, the Ukrainian military’s actions in Crimea are designed not only to achieve tactical objectives but also to create severe economic and social pressure on the occupying forces, potentially reshaping the dynamics in the region.

This latest campaign signals a shift in Ukraine’s strategy, aiming to destroy enemy military assets while simultaneously undermining the economic foundation of the occupation. With fuel and food supplies already facing critical disruptions, the social and economic situation in occupied territories could deteriorate rapidly. Such pressure may affect civilian and military morale alike, and could force changes in Russian command decisions in the region.
