The Ukrainian Armed Forces are creating a new type of troops: unmanned air defense systems.
According to inkorr.com: The Ukrainian Air Force has begun the formation of a new type of troops - unmanned air defense systems. Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized the importance of protecting the civilian population and critical infrastructure from enemy airstrikes, calling this a priority task for the state and the armed forces.
“We are already in the process of forming a new type of troops in our Air Force - these are unmanned air defense systems,” noted Syrskyi.
The new unmanned systems include interceptor drones capable of effectively destroying enemy “Shahed” drones and enhancing electronic warfare capabilities. An increase in the number of attack helicopters is also planned within the Air Force.
Creation of new assault troops
In addition, Ukraine intends to create separate assault troops that will work alongside the airstrike troops and include unmanned systems. This is necessary to improve the efficiency of managing military forces and meet modern requirements. Thus, the forces of unmanned systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been established.
Therefore, the Ukrainian Air Force is actively deploying new unmanned systems for air defense and preparing to form assault troops with unmanned components. This will enable more effective protection of the country from enemy air threats.
