Ukrainian Armed Forces regained lost positions near Siversk – ISW maps.
The Ukrainian troops managed to regain their positions in the Siversk area. Russian military continues to advance towards Toretsk, Velyka Novosilka, Pokrovsk, and Kurakhove. This information was reported by analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Donetsk Region
The Ukrainian forces carried out a counterattack in the Siversk direction on December 27. According to geolocation capabilities, they advanced north of Verkhnokamianske, located east of Siversk. A Russian blogger claimed that their forces continue to advance towards Siversk and Viymka. However, the Institute for the Study of War could not confirm this information. Russian forces continue to attack in the Bilohorivka and Viyimka areas.
On December 27, Russian forces also continued their offensive in the Toretsk direction. According to geolocation capabilities, they slightly advanced towards Saratovska Street, the central market, Hirnyhoratsia Street, and Khizhniak in Toretsk. However, the Institute for the Study of War did not confirm this information. Russian troops attacked Toretsk and Diliivka, as well as moved towards Shcherbynivka.
Russian forces also advanced south of Pokrovsk. They reached Novoelizavetivka and captured Ukrainka and Novoolebivka. Russian bloggers assert that their troops continue to advance near Lysyanka and Dachenko. A Ukrainian military expert reported that Russian forces incurred losses and became less combat-ready.
In the Kurakhove direction, Russian troops also continue their offensive. According to a Ukrainian military expert, units of the 20th Motorized Rifle Division advanced south of Kurakhove. Russian troops faced difficulties on the Zorya-Sontsivka line. Russian units suffered significant losses in personnel. It is noted that Russian troops attacked Kurakhove, Sloviansk, Petropavlivka, Andriivka, and Dachne.
On December 27, Russian forces continued their offensive south of Velyka Novosilka. They cut the Velyka Novosilka-Huliaypole road.
It is worth noting that the war in Ukraine has been ongoing for 1039 days.
In the past day, the enemy carried out 37 airstrikes, firing 43 KAB. More than 808 kamikaze drones and over 4,300 shellings of our troops' positions and settlements were also recorded.
