Russian Military Casualties in Ukraine

According to UATV: According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian forces sustained significant combat losses on March 3. In a single day, Ukrainian defenders eliminated 980 invading soldiers, 232 units of automotive equipment, 5 tanks, and over 1,700 operational-tactical level unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Since the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, and up to March 4, 2026, the total combat losses of the occupation forces amount to approximately 1,269,500 personnel. Other cumulative losses include:

  • 11,723 tanks
  • 24,135 combat armored vehicles
  • 37,874 artillery systems
  • 1,667 multiple launch rocket systems
  • 1,319 air defense systems
  • 435 aircraft
  • 348 helicopters

The General Staff also reports the destruction of:

  • 156,431 operational-tactical level unmanned aerial vehicles
  • 4,384 cruise missiles
  • 30 ships and boats
  • 2 submarines
  • 81,224 units of automotive equipment and fuel tankers
  • 4,078 units of special equipment

These figures underscore the immense scale of Russian military losses in the conflict. The data reflects the sustained pressure on Russia's armed forces in a war that has now lasted for years. While these statistics are provided by Ukrainian sources and cannot be independently verified, they are widely cited as a key indicator of the conflict's intensity. The persistent attrition of personnel and equipment is likely impacting Russia's operational capabilities and long-term strategy.

Such losses highlight the ferocity of the Ukrainian defense and the ongoing need for international support to help Ukraine continue its resistance and defend its territorial integrity.
