Frontline Combat Report for March 2

According to UATV: Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have reported liberating nine settlements on the Oleksandrivka axis. In a significant blow to the Russian offensive, over 400 units of Russian military equipment were destroyed on March 2 alone, a day which saw 52 combat engagements along the front. The conflict continues to exact a heavy toll on Russian forces, with total personnel losses since the full-scale invasion exceeding 1.26 million soldiers.

Since the intensification of combat operations on January 29, Russian troops have suffered over 6,500 personnel casualties, including more than 4,000 killed. In just the last 24-hour period, 960 Russian soldiers were eliminated. The capture of 15 Russian military personnel further underscores the proactive and effective operations conducted by Ukrainian forces.

UAF Gains and Russian Losses

Over the course of three winter months, Russian military casualties have surpassed 92,000 service members. According to UAF data, Moscow has also lost substantial hardware, including:

  • 322 tanks
  • 430 armored combat vehicles
  • nearly 3,000 artillery systems
  • five aircraft
  • over 65,000 drones

“In three winter months, we have eliminated more Russian soldiers than the invaders have recruited into their ranks.”

Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Operational-Strategic Grouping of Forces 'East'

While the frontline situation remains complex, as noted by spokesperson Ruslan Muzychuk, the operational successes of Ukrainian troops and the substantial losses inflicted on the enemy demonstrate a gradual shift in momentum. The war in Ukraine has evolved into a brutal war of attrition, where such equipment losses are difficult for Russia to replace quickly.

The liberation of settlements and the destruction of enemy hardware highlight the UAF's active posture and capacity to strike effectively. Given the scale of Russian losses, it is evident that significant pressure is being applied to Russian forces, a factor that will likely influence the future military strategy of both sides in this protracted conflict.
