G7 Leaders Meeting, 16th Sanctions Package Against Russia. Main News for February 24.


US President Donald Trump announced a 'great deal' with Russia in the area of economic development. He stated this in his social media post. Trump stated that he is negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the end of the war and signing a 'Critical Minerals and Rare Earth Elements Agreement' between the US and Ukraine.
The G7 heads of state held an online meeting chaired by the Canadian Prime Minister. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attended the meeting along with Trump and French President Macron.
The UN General Assembly supported the Ukrainian version of the resolution regarding the anniversary of the Russian invasion, as well as the US resolution with amendments. The EU approved the 16th sanctions package against Russia, which includes new restrictions on the Russian economy.
Ukraine's partner countries announced new aid on the anniversary of the full-scale war. The United Kingdom is providing £4.5 billion in aid, Norway – €3.5 billion, Sweden – 1.2 billion Swedish kronor, Denmark – 2 billion Danish kroner, Spain – €1 billion, Ireland – 25 LAV III infantry fighting vehicles and 4 F-16 flight simulators, Finland – €4.5 million.
Ukraine will also receive military equipment from Canada and radar systems from Ireland.
