Negotiations between the USA and Russia in Miami: what will be discussed regarding the war in Ukraine.
According to ТСН: This weekend, a meeting may take place in Miami between American and Russian officials as part of the Trump administration's efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
According to information, plans remain unchanged, and if the meeting does take place, the Trump administration will present the results of recent negotiations to Russian representatives, who have not changed their demands.
Composition of Delegations
The Russian delegation will likely include the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Putin's representative Kirill Dmitriev. The American side will be represented by the special envoy of the Trump administration Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Negotiations and Challenges
Witkoff and Kushner held lengthy negotiations in Berlin earlier this week with Ukrainian and European officials to discuss U.S. security guarantees for Kyiv, territorial concessions, and other issues. The U.S. offered a mutual defense promise similar to the one they provided to NATO members, but Ukraine declined the requirement to join the Alliance immediately.
Representatives of the Trump administration are confident that Russia will accept Western security guarantees and Ukraine's membership in the EU in the final agreement. However, Putin has yet to demonstrate intentions to reduce Ukraine's status as a sovereign state.
The U.S. plans to convene a group of military officials who support Ukraine to agree on technical details regarding security and territory. Negotiations in Miami appear to be a separate initiative.
Additional Meetings
Furthermore, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov is also set to meet with the American delegation before the negotiations between the USA and Russia. Sources report that plans remain uncertain for now.
One European official noted that the 'coalition of the willing' troops will likely be involved in operating planes and drones. Some European units will be deployed in western Ukraine to support Ukrainian forces, but not to participate in combat on the front line.
The meeting in Miami could be an important step towards resuming international negotiations regarding the situation in Ukraine. The participation of delegations from both sides indicates a desire to reach a certain compromise and prevent further escalation of the conflict. We will monitor the developments, as the outcome of these negotiations may affect the future of the region.
