High-Level Talks Between Ukraine and UAE Presidents
According to UATV: On March 28, 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. The two leaders discussed critical security issues, including threats to the UAE from Iranian attacks and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
During the meeting, Zelenskyy stressed the importance of ensuring stability and protecting lives amid modern dangers. He declared that terror must not prevail globally and that
“protection must be sufficient everywhere”- Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Ukrainian president also expressed readiness for joint efforts that could, over the long term, strengthen both nations and safeguard their citizens.
Ukraine's Security Expertise
Zelenskyy highlighted Ukraine's proven security expertise, noting that “our cities, unfortunately, have been under daily attacks for four years of full-scale war.” He pointed out that Ukrainians have developed a defense system capable of destroying a high percentage of enemy drones and missiles.
“This systematic approach and integration of experience is what we offer to our partners”- Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This meeting underscores the growing importance of security and defense cooperation between Ukraine and the UAE, a partnership that could significantly impact regional stability.
