Third Anniversary of Kherson's Liberation: How It Happened in November 2022.
According to inkorr.com: Today, Ukraine celebrates the third anniversary of Kherson's liberation. On November 11, 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine returned to the city, which had been under the control of Russian occupiers for a long time. The portal 'Glavkom' reminds us of the important events leading up to this date.
UAF Offensive
On November 10, 2022, the Ukrainian flag once again flew in the village of Snihurivka in Mykolaiv Oblast, and it became known that Ukrainian troops had regained control over the village of Kyselivka, located near Kherson. Commander-in-Chief of the UAF Valerii Zaluzhnyi reported that since the beginning of October, Ukrainian forces had liberated 41 settlements in this region.
On the same day, half of the Russian forces crossed the Dnipro River, and the next morning they were already retreating across a pontoon bridge to the eastern bank, while Ukrainian fighters were approaching Kherson. Local residents joyfully greeted the Ukrainian armored columns, coming out into the streets with flags and cheers.
Kherson after liberation from the occupiersOn the evening of November 11, Ukrainian troops entered Kherson, and the next day the city was completely liberated. The UAF also took control of the entire right-bank part of Kherson Oblast.
Despite the joy of liberation, the Ukrainian military acted cautiously due to the possibility of traps from Russian forces. Sappers were working to eliminate mines and other dangers for both military and civilians. During the demining process, several people were injured, and one person died.
However, no serious resistance or traps were found in Kherson — the retreat of Russian troops was marked by chaos. Local residents warmly welcomed the troops, coming out onto the streets with flags and tears of joy.
Celebration of Kherson's Liberation
On November 11, residents of Kherson took to the streets en masse to celebrate the liberation of the city. People danced, sang, celebrated victory, and expressed gratitude to Ukraine and the Armed Forces.
Kherson residents organized a bonfire and began to dance around it, singing national songs.
On the morning of November 12, the day before the third anniversary, it became known that over a thousand cultural values had been stolen by Russian troops from the O. Shovkunenko Art Gallery in Kherson Oblast.
In Ukraine, the celebration of this important event continues, holding great significance for all residents of Kherson and the country as a whole.
