12-year-old in Britain hospitalized due to caffeine chewing gum.
According to inkorr.com: In Swindon, United Kingdom, a troubling event occurred: 12-year-old Oliver Wood was hospitalized after consuming over 50 chewing gums with a high caffeine content. The boy's mother, Ann-Marie Willis, reported that her son complained of a rapid heartbeat and severe chest pain, prompting her to call for an ambulance.
Consumption of dangerous chewing gums
The boy purchased Furocity chewing gums, which are advertised by the famous British boxer Tyson Fury. The packaging of this product contains an excessive amount of caffeine, which exceeds the daily allowance for children by several times. Oliver ingested a huge dose of caffeine, equivalent to approximately 20 cups of coffee.
The boy's condition stabilized after treatment, and he was released home. However, this incident serves as a serious reminder for parents and authorities about the need to control the sale of such products. His mother is calling for stricter regulations and mandatory warnings to prevent similar cases in the future.
This incident has sparked significant public concern and raised questions about the safety of high-caffeine products for children. Manufacturers and regulators must carefully assess the impact of such products on youth and take necessary measures to ensure their safety.
