16-year-old Ukrainian created the partisan group Puhachi: the story of the fight against the occupiers.
According to inkorr.com: In 2022, on the occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region, 16-year-old Ukrainian teenager Igor created the partisan group 'Puhachi' to resist the Russian occupation. This impressive story was shared by the boy in an exclusive interview with DW for 'Glavkom'.
Going into battle
Igor decided to fight against the occupation at the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine while he was still studying in the ninth grade. At first, his parents supported his decision, but over time began to argue with him about his views. However, Igor remained committed to his beliefs and chose the side of Ukraine.
“At first, my parents also supported me, they were for us, for Ukraine... I had already seen Russians here. I saw my enemy, and that was a motivation for me to move forward. I was looking for people,” said Igor.
Activities of the group
The group 'Puhachi' consisted of eight boys aged 14 to 18 who actively acted in their city at the end of spring 2022. They removed the Russian flag from buildings, spread threats to the occupiers, and provided the Ukrainian army with important coordinates regarding the location of military equipment and enemy positions.
When the occupation authorities discovered their activities, Igor and his friends were arrested. During interrogations, they were subjected to brutal beatings, including electric shock torture. However, in the summer of 2022, after an explosion of a car in Melitopol, the FSB operatives handling their case suddenly disappeared, and Igor along with his friends were released.
Igor displayed leadership qualities during the creation of the partisan group 'Puhachi', which actively resisted the Russian occupation in Zaporizhzhia. His determination and dedication to Ukraine became an example of courage for others. Despite the dangers, the boy and his team continued to fight for the freedom of their country, conducting reconnaissance operations for the Ukrainian army.
The story of Igor and his group 'Puhachi' is a vivid example of patriotism and courage among youth in wartime. Their actions demonstrate how even in the most challenging circumstances people can unite to fight for their own freedom and dignity. Today, such young heroes are symbols of resistance and hope for all Ukrainians.
