Hasidic pilgrims are leaving Ukraine
According to inkorr.com: After celebrating the Jewish New Year - Rosh Hashanah in Uman, about 40 thousand Hasidim have already left the territory of Ukraine. This was reported by Andriy Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS), during a live broadcast.
“In fact, the number [of Hasidim] that we recorded on entry is almost 40 thousand citizens, so over these last days, starting from September 25, that same number approximately left our country,” Demchenko noted.
According to him, the largest flow of Hasidim was observed on September 25, when over 25 thousand people left Ukraine in just one day. In the following days, the number of departures decreased; however, yesterday, over five thousand pilgrims left for abroad.
It is worth noting that in Uman on September 22, a mass prayer Tikkun HaKlali took place, in which more than 10 thousand Hasidim participated. The prayer took place on the eve of the Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah.
The authorities of Uman tightened security measures during the celebration of Rosh Hashanah. In 2025, the holiday will be celebrated on September 22-24.
About 40 thousand Hasidim who gathered in Uman for the celebration of Rosh Hashanah managed to return home after the holiday ended. These events highlight the importance of religious traditions for the community and emphasize Uman's role as an important place for pilgrims from all over the world. The next celebration will take place in September 2025, so a new wave of pilgrims arriving in Ukraine can be expected.Read also
