This effort aims to address the country’s growing need for affordable living spaces amid ongoing economic and social challenges.

Planned Construction Details

Specifically, in Lviv, Kropyvnytskyi, and Kremenchuk, plans call for the construction of over one thousand apartments in each city. In Mykolaiv, 300 apartments are slated to be built, while Zhytomyr will see 216 units.

Olena Shulyak, a project representative, stated: 'These are the first communities to take part in the pilot social housing project supported by the European Investment Bank.'

She added: 'All five communities have submitted their financial models. These are currently undergoing evaluation at the Ministry of Finance.' As a result, the communities are actively preparing to implement the project, which aims to provide accessible housing for the population.

This project marks a significant step forward for social housing development in Ukraine, helping to improve living conditions for many citizens. The involvement of the European Investment Bank could also attract further investment and serve as a blueprint for other regions seeking to enhance housing for their residents.

The launch of this pilot social housing initiative responds to the rising demand for affordable homes, particularly in the face of economic difficulties and social inequality. The outcomes of this project may set an example for other parts of the country aiming to upgrade their residents’ housing standards.
