First-graders will receive 5000 UAH from the state: how to apply for payment.
In our country, the 'School Backpack' program has started, which provides a one-time payment of 5,000 UAH for each first-grader. If there are two children in the family, the funds are credited separately for each. Information about the conditions for receiving this money and its possible use can be found on the website of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Who can receive assistance
Assistance can be received by parents or guardians or the child themselves who will enter the first grade in the 2025–2026 academic year in the territories controlled by Ukraine. If the child is abroad or in temporarily occupied territories, the payment can be received after their return.
How to apply for funds
Applications can be submitted online via the 'Diia' app by selecting the appropriate option. It can also be submitted offline at the Pension Fund service center by presenting the relevant documents. The deadline for submitting the application is until November 15, 2025.
What the money can be spent on
The funds received can only be spent on school supplies, clothing, and footwear for first-graders. They can only be paid for cashless in certain stores. The money must be spent within 180 days and is not included in the total family income.
Changes in social payments
Minister of Social Policy Denys Uliutin and Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko emphasize the importance of modernizing the system of social payments and supporting the development of various sectors. The state plans to allocate significant funds and also increase salaries for teachers and medical workers.
