70% of Poles are ready to stay in the country in case of war with Russia: survey data.
According to inkorr.com: According to the results of a survey conducted by the Pollster Research Institute on behalf of Super Express, 70% of Polish citizens are ready to stay in their country and participate in its defense in case of a Russian attack. Only 30% of respondents expressed a desire to leave. This was reported by 'Glavkom'.
Major of the Polish Armed Forces Arkadiusz Kups expressed his surprise at the survey results: 'I expected the proportions to be close to 50 to 50, so what I saw is encouraging.'
Kups noted that leaving during a war may be justified only for women with children, while those who have a duty to defend the country should remain. He expressed hope that reality will match the declared intentions of the survey participants. The major also emphasized that during security training, young people often ask whether it is worth leaving the country and what destinations are the safest.
Survey data and citizens' reactions
The survey conducted on September 10-11, 2025, using the CAWI method among 1,020 adult Poles, showed that the majority of respondents wish to stay to protect the country.
After the recent invasion of Russian drones into Polish territory, many citizens started actively looking for housing abroad. The most popular destinations became Spain and Bulgaria. It should be noted that on September 10, during a massive attack on Ukraine, several strike drones crossed the Polish border, provoking a reaction from the Polish armed forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that it did not intend to attack facilities on Polish territory, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to help Poland build a warning and protection system against similar incidents involving Russian drones.
Therefore, the survey indicates that the majority of Poles are ready to stay in the country and defend it in the event of a threat. The major of the Polish army expressed surprise at these results and emphasized the importance of fulfilling the duty to defend one's country. In particular, the active search for housing abroad is related to the recent drone attacks, as well as the proposal by the Ukrainian president to assist in creating a defense system.
