1600 Ukrainian men daily: where and why are 18-year-olds going

According to inkorr.com: Today, Ukrainian youth are actively leaving the country in search of jobs, mostly in Poland and Germany. According to the Polish border service, about 1600 Ukrainian men aged 18 to 22 cross the border daily. This has become possible due to the received permission for departure for this category of youth, as reported by the publication 'Glavkom', referring to Politico.

Statistics and accounting

Since the beginning of 2025 until the end of August, more than 45,300 Ukrainian men aged 18 to 22 have arrived in Poland. However, as noted by the representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andrii Demchenko, there is no official record kept for this category.

‘After these boys received the opportunity to leave, they crossed the border, but they do not make up a significant share of the passenger flow,’ explained Demchenko.

Searching for opportunities in Germany

In addition to Poland, Ukrainians are also actively looking for jobs in Germany. According to the German Ministry of the Interior, the number of Ukrainians aged 18 to 22 leaving for this country has significantly increased in mid-autumn.

This indicates a difficult economic situation in Ukraine, as young people are going abroad in search of better financial opportunities and improvement of their future.

The latest data on the departure of Ukrainian youth abroad highlights the lack of jobs and stability in Ukraine. The youth, seeking better living conditions, not only shifts demographic indicators but also highlights the challenges the country is facing under the current economic realities. This trend could have long-term consequences for Ukraine's economic development and workforce formation in the future.
