Attack on Kyiv January 9 — What is Known
On the night of January 9, Russian invaders carried out mass strikes on Kyiv with drones and missiles. Initially, four dead and 25 injured were reported, among whom were medics and rescuers. Destruction occurred in six districts of the capital, affecting apartment buildings, kindergartens, and critically important facilities.
The embassy of Qatar was also affected during the attack. As a result of targeted attacks on district heating plants in Kyiv, over 500,000 consumers were left without electricity due to damage to substations and networks. A drop in water pressure was recorded on the right bank, while there are problems with heating and water supply on the left bank.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko reported that almost 6,000 houses were left without heating due to infrastructure damage, and there are also disruptions in water supply. The mayor urged Kyiv residents, if possible, to temporarily leave the city to stay in places with alternative heating.
This attack on Kyiv was yet another heavy blow to the residents of the capital, who have already faced many difficulties due to the war. In the conditions of reduced water pressure and heating problems, Kyivans are trying to adapt to challenging circumstances, hoping for a quick restoration of the damaged infrastructure and support from the state.
