Veterans' pensions in 2025: new amounts ranging from 5500 to 16800 hryvnias.
According to inkorr.com: War veterans in Ukraine can receive pensions ranging from 5500 to 16800 UAH, depending on their category, length of service, or service-related disability. In 2025, the pension calculation rules have been updated to simplify access to payments for defenders. This is emphasized in the
Ministry of Defense guide.
Who can receive veteran pensions
The category of war veterans includes
combatants, individuals who participated in wars outside Ukraine, as well as those who received disabilities during service.
What pensions can war veterans receive
Pensions for veterans are divided into two main types:
Pension for length of service and for disability. The amount of pension for length of service depends on the duration of service: after 25 years of service, 65% of monetary provision is accrued, and for each additional year, 3% is added, but not more than 70%. If the service is less than 25 years, the base rate is 50% with an addition of 1% for each additional year, also up to 70%.
Disability pensions depend on the group: Group I – 100% of monetary provision, Group II – 80%, Group III – 60%.
Minimum sizes of veteran pensions in 2025
For persons with Group I disability: 16,847 UAH.
Group II: 13,822 UAH.
Group III: 9,478 UAH.
Combatants and those affected by the Revolution of Dignity: 5,528 UAH (taking into account supplements).
Participants of the Second World War aged 85 and older: 16,847 UAH (as for Group I).
These
amounts include supplements, increases, and additional pensions provided by law. It is important to note that in 2025, medical and social expert commissions (MSEC) have been abolished, and the assessment of health status for pension appointments is now carried out by special expert teams, which significantly simplifies the process for injured servicemen.
Changes in pension provision for war veterans reflect the government's desire to support those who defended the country, facilitating access to necessary payments. The simplification of assessment procedures indicates an important trend in the attitude towards veterans and their needs. This is another step towards those who gave so much for our peace and future.
