Which category of refugees is the hardest to return: The Institute of Demography surprised with the answer.
An employee of the Institute of Demography and Social Studies named after M.V. Ptukh, Oleksiy Poznyak, reported that during the Russian aggression in Ukraine, about 6.5 million Ukrainians emigrated abroad. According to him, the return of those who worked abroad is easier compared to labor migrants who engaged in unskilled work in Ukraine and are satisfied with the work they found abroad. However, some refugees are satisfied with their salary but are not satisfied with their social status. In another country, many Ukrainians find it difficult to get a job at the same level they worked at in Ukraine, as they are offered simple jobs.
Oleksiy Poznyak believes that it is currently not advisable to stimulate the return of emigrants, but the state should ensure their safety and health. In the future, measures are planned to be implemented for the return of refugees after the war ends, but this should happen voluntarily. It is also important to maintain connections with Ukrainians abroad to show them the state's interest in cooperation.
The director of the Institute of Demography, Ella Libanova, believes that the proper social status should be ensured for refugees in Ukraine.
