"Glavkom"citing Newsweek.
According to a new report based on a survey of over 1200 respondents from Amerisleep.com, 37% of Americans stated that over the past year they took vacation primarily for sleep. One in three employees does not spend this time on leisure, as it is necessary to recharge after emotional and physical exhaustion. The highest level of vacation usage for sleep is observed among the youth and high-income individuals.
- Millennials — 43%
- Generation X (Gen X) — 34%
- Generation Z (Gen Z) — 33%
- Baby Boomers — 20%
Experts' Conclusions about the Future
Interestingly, employees with an income of over $100k per year use paid vacation for sleep 26% more often compared to those earning less. On average, Americans spent two to three days of vacation to get the necessary rest.
Experts have defined this type of vacation as "staycation" and predict that in the future, more people will choose it. Despite new vacation policies in some companies, Americans may use this time less for active leisure due to the rising cost of living. Overall exhaustion plays an important role, forcing employees to rest at home instead of planning trips.
Kevin Thompson, CEO of 9i Capital Group, says: "People often strive for an unattainable balance between work and personal life, and many Americans use their free time just to catch up on lost rest. Considering the needs of children, large families, and constant social obligations, it is quite logical that many are looking for an opportunity to relax and recharge at home."
Thus, the demand for vacations among Americans is currently more focused on recovery and sleep rather than active leisure or travel. Work-related exhaustion has become an актуальним problem not only for the youth but also for high-income individuals. Experts are confident that in the near future, even more people will prefer "staycations" at home due to altered vacation policies and high living costs.
