Khlivnyuk on the new theater in Mariupol: This building is built on blood.
According to ТСН: The leader of the band 'Boombox' Andriy Khlivnyuk expressed his outrage over the opening of a new drama theater in Mariupol, where dozens of innocent people died in the spring of 2022.
Tragic events at the theater
This ensemble was the last to perform in the building before the tragic events of February 24, 2022. On March 16, the drama theater was destroyed as a result of an airstrike by Russian invaders. At that moment, about 300 civilians were seeking shelter inside. The word 'Children' was written on the asphalt, underscoring the presence of children in the building.
Occupants' cynicism
Despite this tragedy, the Russian invaders did not hesitate to commit a horrific crime. Recently, they opened a new drama theater built on the site of the destroyed one. Andriy Khlivnyuk emotionally commented on this event on Facebook, emphasizing that the theater is built 'on blood.'
'And now, think about it, the occupiers pompously open a 'theater on blood,' as if nothing happened, as if these people never existed at all. Eternal memory to the innocent victims of the regime. Support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it's the only thing that separates us from the mad empire of lawlessness and evil. Glory to Ukraine!'
Musical principles
Also, Andriy Khlivnyuk recently explained why he refuses to translate his old Russian-language songs into Ukrainian. The artist expressed surprise at how the Russians 'smeared' the famous track 'Vakhteram.'
The opening of the new drama theater sparked widespread resonance in society, as for many it reminds them of the horrific events that occurred in Mariupol. Andriy Khlivnyuk's words became a voice of protest against the cynicism of the occupiers, reminding that the memory of the victims of war must remain alive. The musical scene is also responding to current events, emphasizing that art cannot be indifferent in times of crisis.
