Fuel Price Situation in Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: Fuel prices at Ukrainian filling stations, particularly in major cities like Kyiv and Lviv, continue to climb sharply. In response to this rapid surge, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has launched an investigation. In Kyiv, the cost of A-95 gasoline currently ranges from 67.90 UAH per liter, while A-100 gasoline is priced from 77.90 UAH per liter. Diesel fuel in the capital sells for between 67.90 and 76.69 UAH per liter. This price spike is occurring against a backdrop of broader economic pressures and high inflation in the country.

Fuel Prices in Lviv

The situation is equally tense in Lviv, where prices for A-95 gasoline fluctuate from 68.99 to 73.99 UAH per liter, and A-100 gasoline reaches approximately 80.99 UAH per liter. Diesel fuel in Lviv is sold from 68.99 UAH per liter. The steep rate of increase has alarmed both consumers and market analysts. As noted by Dmytro Liovushkin,

"gasoline prices are breaking records, as the current growth rate is at its maximum."

The Antimonopoly Committee has issued a strict three-day deadline to fuel retailers, demanding they justify the reasons for the price hikes. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also called on the Cabinet of Ministers to urgently discuss the rising costs of gasoline and diesel, underscoring the severity of a problem requiring immediate government attention.

The rise in fuel costs is driven not only by domestic factors but also by global oil market trends, which affect the price of imported fuel. This increase threatens to trigger further price growth for other goods and services as transportation costs rise. Amid economic instability, the government and regulators are seeking ways to stabilize the fuel market and prevent increased social tension among the population.
