Ukraine's Parliament Staff Forced to Work Remotely After Heating and Water Lost in Shelling.
Ukrainian Parliament Administration Shifts to Remote Work
According to Novyny.live: Due to a lack of heating and water caused by a Russian shelling attack, the Administration of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) has moved its staff to remote work. The strike occurred on the night of January 20, leaving temperatures inside a lawmaker's office at a chilly 12°C (approximately 54°F). This attack on civilian infrastructure is part of a wider pattern seen during the ongoing war.
Widespread Impact of the Attack
The shelling left 5,635 buildings in Kyiv without heat. Restoration efforts have been significant, with nearly 80% of those buildings having their heating restored since January 9. The attack has also prompted changes to the schedule of the capital's metro system.
Yaroslav Zhelezniak confirmed that the Administration would operate remotely due to the absence of heating and water following the shelling.
The situation remains challenging, and measures are being taken to resolve the heating supply issues.
This incident underscores the severe consequences of attacks on civilian infrastructure, which disrupt not only daily life in the capital but also the functioning of vital state institutions. In wartime, such events highlight the critical need to protect essential facilities and ensure the continuity of government operations.
