According to TSN.ua: On January 7, NASA astronaut Mike Finne experienced a sudden medical episode while aboard the International Space Station, temporarily losing his ability to speak for roughly 20 minutes. This occurred as he was preparing for a spacewalk scheduled for January 8. Finne, who has spent a total of 549 days in space, described the event as completely unexpected, noting how swiftly it happened. He emphasized that his crewmates immediately noticed something was wrong and rushed to assist.
Medical evaluations ruled out a heart attack, which came as a significant relief to the team. While the incident caused concern, the quick response from Finne's colleagues and ongoing medical monitoring helped stabilize his condition in time.
This event highlights the critical importance of health surveillance and rapid crew coordination aboard the International Space Station, where living conditions can be extreme. Although medical emergencies in space are rare, they can pose serious risks to astronauts. As a result, maintaining crew health remains a top priority for NASA and other space agencies around the world.
